As Vice President, Chess Bedsole supports Porter, White & Company’s investment management, corporate finance and public finance businesses.
Originally from South Alabama, Chess grew up in a business-oriented family. He currently serves, along with his brother, as a partner and trustee for a family timber business. Accordingly, he is well-versed in the particular responsibilities of fiduciary relationships, in regards to both charities and individuals.
For 13 years prior to joining PW&Co, Chess served as counsel and senior advisor for various elected officials and governmental entities in both federal and state arenas. In this role, Chess handled many government finance projects and taxation issues.
Chess joined the firm in May 2011. He lives in Birmingham with his wife and two daughters, Helen Ann and Cameron.
Professional Associations. Chess is a member of the Rotary Club of Birmingham and the Alabama Bar Association. He is an alumnus of the Entrepreneurs’ Roundtable of the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, the PARCA (Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama) Roundtable and the Leadership Forum of the Alabama Bar Association.
