Porter, White & Company's services include the development, leasing and brokerage of real estate as well as the coordination of complex development projects, site selection and assemblage, real estate market research, due diligence reviews, and work-out management. We specialize in public-private projects, health care facilities, single family subdivisions and historic rehabilitation projects.

PW&Co is not a typical real estate firm. A number of characteristics distinguish us from most other real estate brokers.

  • Our experience includes a great variety of projects, including
    • industrial site selection projects in which we have represented (perhaps uniquely in Alabama) the site seeking industry (Honda, Trico Steel, LTV, ACIPCO),
    • condominium conversions (Baptist Health Systems, South Highlands Hospital),
    • site assemblage assignments (University of Alabama Health Services Foundation, Children's Hospital),
    • single family subdivisions [Shook Hill Estates (Mountain Brook), Pinecrest (Trussville), Pine Meadow (Gardendale)],
    • office and industrial park development (City of Birmingham, International Park for BE&K),
    • office buildings (IBM area headquarters and BE&K headquarters),
    • and historic rehabilitation projects (Tutwiler Hotel and Steiner Building).
  • We develop for ourselves (Steiner Building, single family subdivisions) or for others (BE&K).
  • Our fee arrangements range from a consulting basis in which we charge by the hour or the day, to contingent fees, to a combination of the foregoing.
  • We excel at coordinating complex projects (such as Trico Steel which involved negotiations for utility rates, site selection, site assemblage, incentive negotiations, environmental permits, passage of incentive legislation and business planning) in which our role is to act as "chairman of the board" for a multi disciplinary team focused on all aspects of the project.

Most of our real estate projects involve investigation and analysis of facts, development of a plan and a schedule for its accomplishment and then the application of the project coordination discipline necessary to achieve the established goals.
